Nothing warmed my heart more than seeing Ryan Dempster (a player I've never cared for) pitching for the Red Sox (a team I dislike) send a message to one of the biggest cheat's in sports history.
As if the once-great sport of baseball could get any lower after suspension after suspension of its top stars, one of them did this:

I realize there are obviously problem children in any sport (i.e. Aaron Hernandez). This is one of the lowest things I've ever heard of someone attempting. The sad part is, the MLB refuses to enforce stricter penalties for these consistent cheats.
I have come to hate the sport of baseball to the point where I will never watch a full (or even partial) game unless I get free tickets through a client/work. It used to be my favorite sport growing up (played thru HS), but I find myself no longer wishing Dempster simply threw at A-Rods ribs. I want these guys gunning for heads.
A-rod isn't the only one that cheated. Why are people taking out all of their frustrations with PEDs on A-rod. Why isn't Melky getting plunked, why doesn't Colon get hit when he pitches in an NL park. What's more of a joke is that the ump didn't warm Dempster after he missed the first two times. Dude should have been ejected from the game. What kind of justice is there in hitting a guy who cheated with a pitch. Let MLB handle it after the season. There is a process for this sort of stuff.
It also annoys me that the Yankees are throwing one of their players under the bus. Sure, he's said stupid stuff about the organization, but you're supposed to back your players. What kind of a message does this send to a free agent like Cano, who they are trying to sign to a long term deal after the season?
I hope they are all hit. Actually don't hate A-Roid as much as most.
But, don't be naive, MLB won't be delivering any sort of justice for these cheating scumbags or a resolution to ensure this doesn't continue to happen.
Using steroids isn't cheating. They all use steroids in the off-season, and most cycle off in the game season to avoid testing positive. A good analogy would be taking smart drugs to enhance one's GPA and career. In school, cheating is stealing the answers. In sports cheating would include stomping on an opponent or trying to break their neck by face masking.

A-Roid's punishment is best handled off the field. He did nail one out of the park after he got plunked by Dumpster, so guess who had the last laugh there.

Baseball is incredibly boring to watch, and I even played it my entire life. Steroids made it fun to watch, just for a little, and for that I will always be thankful.

@peinvestor2012 Legalizing it would never work considering its illegal even outside of sports. Thus, promoting would be no good either since it is illegal. The commisioner needs to take a hike and then they need to just do testing like the NFL. Leak every upcoming test to the teams, test players rarely and only test for high testosterone levels rather then specific drugs. Then let these millionares throw 105+ mph pitches and watch them get hit by other millionares 480 ft. deep center.
Even pitching has gotten dull, you don't see any pitchers throwing high 90s or even over 100 mph anymore other then the extreme rare occurence like that recent rookie.
Of all these guys being suspended A-Rod never test positive. I am not saying he is innocent, but he is taking way more shit than most of the other guys.
I believe that steroids (all drugs, actually) should be legal. So many elite athletes used steroids. And not even just the ones you'd assume, like every single pro bodybuilder ever and athletes who rely on raw strength. There are athletes of every kind on steroids because of the broad array of benefits they can provide.
Yet it's the one occasional athlete who gets busted who's ostracized. Fuck that. I hate that kind of reasoning. It's like getting a ticket for pot possession. Well, actually, that one's usually your own fault. Some of these athletes getting caught was unavoidable.

The fact that Selig is trying to make an example of him is also an embarrassment. This guy turned the other cheek for (literally) decades and now is trying to nail A-Rod to the cross. Absolutely disgraceful.
He didn't test positive because Selig and his cronies are incompetence pieces of shit. He did admit to using PEDs however.

SB for you, TheKing. Selig turned a blind eye when convenient and the fact that Red Sox fans cheered those on their team who everyone had to know had been juicing is just typical for the fan base of that team (No, I am not a Yankees fan either).
Personally, I think the steroid-infused game (and the American League style of play) is incredibly boring. If all you want to watch is guys hit home runs, then just have a home run derby every weekend or something. I think a close game where a team has to 'manufacture' a run in the late innings to tie it or go ahead is much more exciting than a slugfest.
After being a MLB fan for years, I am honestly just about done with it. The games are so expensive to attend that the ROI for your entertainment dollar is just not there. I would rather drop $300-400 to see an NFL game live than half that much for MLB. I lived in a AAA town for years and I have to say, it is a much better experience. $12-14 gets you a seat that would cost $100 or more at most parks at probably $200 at YS or Fenway. The food is half the price and the atmosphere is more personaly. Heck, if you are a huge MLB fan you can buy the MLB Extra Innings package on DirecTV for the price of a single MLB ticket. With that, you can watch every game....even stream it from your iPad.

His 1st offense? How old are you 8? He admitted and was punished for using roids while he played for Texas.
He did not get any official punishment. The incident he admitted to occurred before MLB had any sanctioned testing program.
You have no idea what MLB regulations are in the pipeline, so do not try and blame the MLB. Things are changing, if you cannot see that, look at the change in the past five-ten years.
Regulation implementation starts in the minor leagues. It will take time, but soon enough the MLB will be very strict... Trust me, in the minors, guys have been getting popped for awhile, it just doesn’t receive media attention, and they get tested a minimum 4 times a season, not including the off season. By the way, its not traditional steroids, it is nasal spray, Adderall, jack3d, deer antler, and many more that don’t strictly make you hit better/ throw harder.
The sad part is that you have no idea what constituents as a PED yet you are ranting about it. In 2012 the Minor League drug prevention team went into a GNC, picked out 8 products off the shelves, and 7 had banned substances in it. If you were taking any one of these, you would have received a 50 game suspension, so do not act like progress is stagnant. I believe the lines start to get very blurry when a minor leaguer can't go into a GNC to get products.

No, I'm not 8. Clearly, you didn't read what I wrote. I said it was his first offense under the rules. Meaning, the rules that they imposed in the last few years that give 50 games for the first offense, 100 for the second, and a lifetime ban for a third. 211 games is completely arbitrary and absurd given that the league was loaded with steroids for 20 - 30 years.
The positive test in 2003 comes from the same list Ortiz and Manny were on and no one was punished for those tests. Again, I said "under the rules" meaning the current penalty system. Even Ryan Braun, the guy who got off on a technicality the year he won the MVP award, only got something like 65 games this year, and what he did is arguably way more serious than what A-Rod did. Especially when you consider the righteous indignation Braun used in his denial after the initial positive test.
My entire issue is that everyone is crucifying A-Rod when he is one of many, including players on the Red Sox!

A-Rod has to do the time, but 211 games is abject BS. A suspension of 50 games or so for his first offense (under current rules) is inline and fair game. As much as he is not worthy of his contract, I hope he wins in his feud against Yankees management so they will learn not to award such albatross contracts in the future.
