Best Health and Sleep Tracking Devices for Banking

I’ve been thinking more seriously about tracking my health and sleep to make sure I’m not running myself into the ground without realizing it.

I’m looking for recommendations on the best wearables for tracking sleep quality, heart rate variability, recovery, etc. I’ve narrowed it down to a few options: Apple Watch, WHOOP, and Oura Ring, but I’m open to other suggestions too. Ideally, something that isn’t a pain to wear 24/7 and gives actionable insights, not just raw data.

I have a whoop and love it. Super comfortable to wear and you can’t even tell you’re wearing it most of the time.

I'm all for truly useful health technology, but the truth is that the nuance these device give is relatively minimal and often linked to a placebo effect. If you only manage to sleep 5 hours, that's going to be bad regardless of what recovery score your Whoop gives you. Aim for a pretty consistent 7-8h and just track that with a clock; make sure you avoid screens 60 minutes before bed.

Can 2nd this. Placebo'd myself into thinking anything under 8 hours was abysmal and my day was ruined. Slept without my apple watch and saw immmediate improvements lol

This isn't exactly true. If you sleep 6 hours but have more deep sleep than someone who slept 8 hours, you're probably better. Once you start measuring your types of sleep, you can seek out ways to improve them like not eating before bed or alcohol before bed.

It can be even simpler than this. A full sleep cycle is c.1.5h long, so sleeping in 90-minute intervals (6h, 7.5h, 9h) will likely make you feel more rested than outside of those. If you sort of gauge how long it takes you to get to sleep (15-30 mins for most), you just work with that 6h or 7.5h time and you'll be golden. No fancy, overpriced devices needed.

I don't use them myself because honestly I'm on my screen ~10 or so mins before I fall asleep daily and during the week, I'm lucky to get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

That being said, a lot of folks I know who care about fitness like WHOOP. I don't feel the need to be more disciplined so I haven't paid extra for these health tools. I think for the right situation, they're cool to have.
