Best language to impress females

Studied latin for 5 year back in high school, can confirm that only a handful of people can speak it fluently after many years of study.

However, some people (myself included) use some expressions on a daily basis to sound more posh, here's some of my favourites (in random order) so you can be an hardo too:

Captatio benevolentiae – to praise someone to capture their goodwill

In camera caritatis – if you say something confidentially, you say ‘keep this in camera caritatis’ i.e. don’t tell anyone

Cum grano salis – taking something with a grain of salt

Ipse dixit – That’s what he said

O tempora! O mores! – oh, the times! oh, the customs! —used as an exclamation of despair at prevailing social or political norms

Quid pro quo – a misunderstanding

Obtorto collo – to do something reluctantly

Sui generis – in its own category, one of a kind

Ubi maior minor cessat – ‘Where there is the major, the minor becomes negligible’, sometimes used as the ‘strongest always prevails ‘

Tertium non datur – there’s not a third way, it’s either true or false

Homo faber fortunae suae – You make your own luck (this one dates back to the Italian renaissance)

Mors tua vita mea – literally ‘your death, my life’, used as: your loss is my gain

Conditio sine qua non - an indispensable precondition

Forma mentis - mindset

Lapsus linguae – if you make a grammar mistake or something like that – ‘sorry it was a lapsus linguae’

Et venus in vinis ignis in igne fuit – this one’s great, it basically means that if you are with a girl and drink wine, things always get kinkier
