Alright, I'll cave. Just start holding these caravans at gunpoint and if they try to cross start shooting. Cheaper and less detrimental to the country's long-term health than this rampant inflation and the prospect of millions of illegals creating an even larger strain on our already crippled system.

This isn't the USSR or North Korea mate.  Shooting and killing asylum seekers is not a humane policy.  That makes us no better than the cartels or oppressive governments they flee.

You're welcome to line up with them. People coming from South America, Haiti, and all the rest of these backwaters are not our problem, especially during a pandemic. I thought you were resident covidbitch on this forum crying about how scary it is? None of these people are vaccinated and hardly any are getting tested, they're just being let in and in some cases literally flown around the country. These people are not our fucking responsibility and we should not give a flying fuck what they want. They are not asylum seekers you utterly gullible buffoon, they economic migrants and people being smuggled by human traffickers. It is the bleeding heart retards like you that continue to enable this activity and allow it to get worse and worse, to the point where you just throw up your hands and give up trying to manage it at all. Just like you do with the mentally ill and drug addicted homelessness problem in the big blue cities.

This seems so absurd I doubt anything like this will come to fruition (coming from one of the most liberal WSO posters). Let's revisit in 3 months..

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

The article says Trump was responsible for several similar payouts, but only around 125,000 dollars.

Yes, payments to less than a thousand people is causing "hyper-inflation".  And not the 1.75 trillion in tax cuts almost entirely to the rich, straight to the deficit.

I am a staunch democrat but this is absurd. Imagine how much that could change the lives of poverty stricken Americans in cities. Even 5000 is life changing.

Read the article you mongoloids. Most families would receive much less than this amount and this is not for everyone; only to settle lawsuits of trauma or medical issues for SOME people. If the government thought proceeding in court is cheaper, they would have done so. However, apparently settling is cheaper. You guys really fall for these clickbait headlines. I agree with the above poster tho. Shoot these people at gunpoint next time.

It's actually fairly common for Democrat administrators, utilizing their position of power, to make outrageous settlements under the false pretense that the settlements are cheaper than the likely losses in court. Examples: 1) George Floyd's family was paid the preposterous sum of $27 million in a settlement; 2) Jacob Blake, who was shot after reaching for a knife after digitally raping a woman, was given a 7 figure settlement; 3) Andrew McCabe was just paid $750,000 in a settlement by the DOJ after he was terminated for lying under oath 7 times, under the pretense that this settlement is likely less than he would have gotten in a civil suit!

Just because the government claims settlements are cheaper doesn't mean they actually are so.

They shouldn't receive ANYTHING you fucking dope. They are not Americans. They are not tax payers. They are not welcome here. There are illegally entering our territory and leaching money from our government when we have record unemployment and a crippled supply chain infrastructure. End of fucking story.

I don't get why the US is so friendly to illegal immigrants. Not sure why I paid 5 figures in legal fees to be here legally. Maybe I should just skip across the border next time...

I have lots of family that migrated from 3rd world countries to the US btw, all legally and they saved up to do it. It's very disrespectful to people who did things the right way to have such ridiculously lax rules about illegal immigration.

I also have family who immigrated here legally and stuff like this has me seething. It's not America that's friendly to this, it's the damn Democrats and weak old-guard of the Republican establishment. Illegals are a scourge to this country and a big snot-loaded globule of spit into the faces of all the hardworking immigrants who came here the right way. It's a disgrace. But at least no mean tweets!

We're not that far from a Camp of the Saints scenario in which many millions of third-world people just bum rush the border and permanently transform the country. The managerial class has grown so obsessed with racism that they no longer believe that they have the moral right to tell poor people of color that they can't enter. Or, at least, they'll say it but won't enforce it if they see a sad photo.

This mind virus has infected the left at the same time that the third world has gotten cell phones with social media. It turns out that what prevented a lot of illegal immigration in the past was just ignorance. Most poor people didn't know what was going on two countries away. If some opportunity to get in arose, there was no way to spread the word to someone in a random village back home. WhatsApp changes everything.

Allowing illegal immigrants to remain in the country is like bailing out Wall Street banks. If you do it, you incentivize more of the behavior that led to it. People are just going to keep coming and coming until someone forcibly stops them. And it doesn't look like the people in power are capable of that anymore.

I 100% believe that within the next decade or so you will see a scenario where there will be a bum rush at the border. It may result in Republicans winning the presidency, House, Senate, etc. and it won't matter because the entrenched, unelected bureaucracy will allow it to happen and there will be insufficient court personnel to process the cases.

The Dems keep saying that we need to "reform" immigration, but what they really mean by reform is to eliminate the border. The Right has accused Dems of believing this position for decades. The rise of Trump has been the worst thing for the country because for whatever reason, since 2015, Trump's rise has completely radicalized the Left and they have removed the mask. I honestly don't know how we went from a liberal Democrat Barack Obama to full-blown, European Union socialism in a decade where we've effectively removed the border, we no longer acknowledge the differences between men and women, and are spending ourselves into fiscal ruin at a breakneck pace. For whatever reason, Trump flipped a switch in the Left's brain and they just said said, "F it. We're done pretending."

I agree with a lot of this, but I don't think that Trump is the root cause. The radicalization trend predates him. It really started around 2011 or so. Given the timing, its root cause is probably social media. Wokeness came onto the scene when young progressive women on Tumblr started purity spiraling themselves into more and more extreme positions. Ideas that had previously been contained in weird corners of far-left academia leaked onto the internet, gained steam, and spread into mainstream left outlets like NPR, MSNBC, and NYT. Then Trump poured fuel on the fire and they went insane.

Biden's build back better plan is fully funded by a minimum corporate tax.  Trump's tax cuts, of which almost NONE went to his base, went straight to the deficit.

Camp of the Saints is white nationalist literature.  Just an FYI

[As the novel nears its end, Lydie, depicted as a traitor to her white race, becomes a sexual plaything for the dark-skinned refugees who have now seized power.] Lydie ... died in Nice, in a w----house for Hindus... . At the time, each refugee quarter had its stock of white women, all free for the taking. (One of the new regime's laws, in fact. In order to "demythify" white women, as they put it.) ... [In the end, Lydie, along with other white female sex slaves, is confined by the "Hindus" to their] "White Female Practice and Experimentation Center."
