Business or Engineering Ugrad at Cal Poly SLO?

Hey WSO,
I committed to Cal Poly and want to work in either FO BB S&T or some West Coast VC tech firm. Should I study engineering or business? Naturally one would think Business is the way to go but these days I keep hearing about the increasing popularity of industrial engineers working in high finance. I have to choose a major soon so your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chaffey

Engineering, because Cal Poly isn't anything special for business. As a matter of fact, as I'm sure you're aware, Cal Poly is pretty good for engineering, so that will help your case when it comes to VC recruiting. Getting into IB will be more difficult from your position, but is still a possibility with hard work.

I agree. An engineering degree will also leave more career paths open. I know that CP SLO is non-target for anything East Coast; I will continue to network, join the investment club, and possibly minor in Financial Management.
