Buy new phone now or wait for iPhone 8?

Piggybacking off the apple vs android thread....

My old iPhone is running very slow and has awful battery life. I can’t use it for more than about 30 minutes before going from fully charged to dead and it randomly freezes up. Safe to say it has been causing a lot of frustration.

I saw the new iPhone 8 will be announced September 12th, but how soon can I realistically expect to be able to walk into a store and buy one? Would it be really stupid to buy a new 6 or 7 now so soon before the 8 is released? If all my friends and family use iPhones, would it be really annoying to switch to a different phone entirely?

If you're set on an iPhone, I'd wait for the 8 to come out, seeing as it will be announced & thrown to the markets in a month or less. You could simply pre-order it through a retailer when it becomes available. However, I honestly recommend you switch to an Android device. Unless you and your family/friends make extensive use of Apple specific apps (ex. Facetime), it will make very little difference.

To infinity... and beyond!

I would definitely wait a couple more days. I have an iphone 6 and the battery was horrible after 2 years of use- it would last about 20-30 minutes before it would die. Back in June I got a battery swap so that I could survive til the new iPhone came out. Since I recently started living on my own, I've had to get my own smart TV (and no longer have an Apple TV) and I've gotten a new laptop (went from Mac to Windows). I've drifted from Apple since, frankly, they aren't as innovative as they used to be but they price their products as if they have technology no one has ever seen.

Anyway, with the new iPhone coming out, I have a mental ultimatum: Unless this iphone has never-before-seen technology, I'll be getting an android. I'm assuming this iphone will pretend to be revolutionary with proximity charging, end-to-end screen and denser PPI, but those are all things that android phones have had for 40% cheaper. Oh, and how apple forces you to use their shitty charger and how they force you to use airpods. Fuck that shit.

Hold on for two more weeks! When the new iphone drops, you'll see last year's model drop in price, and you'll possibly see the competition's phones go on sale. Go out and buy a 5ft charging cord, buy a few more (off brand) cords so that anywhere you sit for a while you can have your phone plugged in. Wait and see what this iphone has and reevaluate from there.

Apple would have to come out with something really amazing to win me back from the Android Life!

You can't make it 2 weeks to at least see the announcement? Think about it. The 8 and 7S are allegedly both being announced, meaning the cost of the 7, which is already a great phone, is going to plummet. If you buy a phone now you're literally lighting money on fire for no reason.

I used my delorian time machine to test out the iPhone 9 and have decided I like my 6s better than the 9. Also, when I brought the 9 back, it didn't work as well on the current infrastructure as in the future, so the 6s is a clear win.
