Choosing between liberal art colleges

I’ve been accepted to a few elite mid west based lac : oberlin, macalester, Grinnell and Carleton. My dream college was either Williams or Amherst, but I was rejected by both. I’ve been offered a full-ride at all of the four Midwest colleges. Not sure if I want to do IB or Consulting after undergrad, but It’ll be one of the two; I’m still a high school senior so I have some time. Which colleges should I be looking at?

I have done campus visits, and cultural fit does not seem to be a problem at either of the colleges. I am looking for some info on general strengths - all colleges seem to have produced outstanding / famous alumnus, which makes sense as they all feature within the top 30 in the country...furthermore, all these colleges are generally considered peers to each other. how should i be thinking about this?

Each place will have its own unique strengths. Rather than ask a bunch of strangers here perhaps you should consider the following if you have it already...

Which strengths matter to you more now? Which will matter more in 4 years? In 20 years? What about climate? Activities? Student population makeup? Culture? Sports? Social scene?

Maybe take a poll of your friends and family if you are really stuck. And if you are really stuck, after that, you may just have to take plunge and choose something or flip a coin or draw out of a hat. Welcome to adulthood...big decisions that may really impact your life are rarely crystal clear at the time. It doesn’t get better, I assure you.

Good Luck

I used to do Asia-Pacific PE (kind of like FoF). Now I do something else but happy to try and answer questions on that stuff.

You are welcome. Good luck

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Bobby Axe negotiating Taylor's salary: "This isn't heavy petting on the Oberlin campus, we don't both have to agree".

In all seriousness, avoid that place and any other extreme hippie place. 10 years ago, far left politics might've added unique perspective to your life. But these days its just a bunch of whining rich kids who aren't there to learn because they don't need any actual knowledge to do whatever bullshit job they plan on doing after graduating. They get what they came for (a piece of paper and 4 years of self-righteousness) and you're the one who's cheated out of thoughtful classmates who help you develop.

Eliminate Grinnell and Oberlin. You could transfer from the other two to better schools for IB or ride it out and depend on a small but existent alumni base.

Macalester is in an urban area full of hot blondes so I think it’d be the most fun.
