Not sure if that’s the best option but I would try to prolong PIP as much as possible, including taking all days off you have left and even a health leave, and recruit meanwhile while you still have a job

 

Not if his U5 is fucked. Finra matters a lot. Sometimes if you’re canned on a PiP they’ll give you some grievance to help you get a new job but sometimes they’re not so nice.

Also OP, I think you have some lack of self awareness. Why won’t your directors risk a lawsuit by telling you you’re a strong performer while putting you on a PiP? A PiP is done to fire someone with cause.
