AM, run a cool quarter trill. Goldman's up the block but GSAM is in JC.
The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets.
I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
So a friend who was a PM used to complain that he kept getting family and friends asking about budgeting and stuff.

It is is a little confusing but I have never had that situation. Most family members and friends know that I do something investment related. On Reddit in the financial careers sub it very confusing. Half of the people are talking about corporate finance (budgets. etc) and the other half are discussing investment careers.
I've not heard anyone under 40 use the term "fuh-nance".
It is kind of cringey to to hear it pronounced fuh-nance. I am far from an expert on pronunciation. I pronounce huge as yuge but this is the New Yorker in me.
unironically, fuh-nance ever since I went to b-school as a complete non-target career switcher and had a professor use that pronunciation. I am trying to overcompensate now, as I am surrounded by hardos.

You are only considered prestigious if you work in fuh-nance. Only non-targets work in finance
fuh-nance is for pussies
I tell people I'm a bank teller
Work in finance, but the deals are fuh-nancings

Agreed. Also, I always thought people said "fih-nance" not "fuh-nance", but maybe I gotta listen more

I say finance, not sure which people pronounce it finance.

fin-nance
I started saying "fin-nance" ironically but now it's just how I say it. I'm very self-conscious about it in public.
pho-nance
Fye-nance. I didn’t know there was another way people say it
