Dream Job if money was not a factor
How would you answer this sort of question in a behavioral interviewer? Additionally, what would your actual dream job be.

Career Resources
No job would be the dream job if money wasn’t an issue
Some need purpose, problem-solving, some form of mental stimulation. Why I feel bad for pampered pets, the sheep dogs have a way more fulfilling life
Sheepdogs have been bred to herd sheep. It is in their blood, their DNA. I imagine that to a sheepdog, getting to herd sheep is like getting to breathe air, drink water, and (literally) fuck bitches.
Exactly. It's not a job if one is passionate enough. Never seen many got rich doing what they are passionate about though
Pilot
Pilots can make very good money.
My sister is a 777 Captain. When you near retirement on the big planes, they call it “dozing for dollars” as on long international trips some pilots are able to take a nap and get paid for it.
Pilots also have the best social life. After Doctors the next most respected job. Get's you the 10s without needing to compensate with high financial damage.
For me it would be top dealmaker in M&A or CEO of investment bank tbh ^^
nerd
Let me guess, you’ve not experienced the industry yet. You will not have any personal time/family life, believe me. No money can pay for that. Fuck that!
Lol nice troll
FBI or some sort of elite law enforcement / prosecutor / civil servant
This. Some type of James Bond MI5/CIA secret agent
it's not like James Bond, the reality of being a secret service agent may be quite unglamorous (like having a simple and boring life in a foreign country just to look like a local and pass information to your home agency). But regardless, I would also go for the CIA. The training and things that one learns over there are priceless (pragmatic psychology, some combat sports, politics, foreign languages, history, cultures, etc.).
Would be sweet to be a train conductor.
based
writer
Special forces. And I know the absolute walls of text people respond to posts like this with, with comments like "you don't want to serve, you want to appear like you serve" and all of that jazz.
But for me, the truth is that it just seems incredibly challenging, rewarding, and interesting if you were to be on a spec ops team. I understand there's a lot of admin to it as well, but so does every job.
This is what I wanted to do when 18 years old. I tried out and got pretty far in the pipeline, but then failed an academic test. I never quit though. Never ever quit.
We need an Isaiah documentary
Movie director and producer.
National park ranger
I worked as a backcountry park ranger during my summers before working in finance - I would give anything to go back
What is stopping you from going back right now?
My Dad (way retired) runs the half scale railway at the local zoo. He's got the full striped getup and grew out a beard for the gig too.
D1 college head football coach
the avg D1 football coach makes 1.75 million
Ummm okay…
Ummm okay…
Recreational Sailor. Traveling and living on the yacht half the year.
Movie producer / director. Always thought that was a super cool career. Money no object makes it even better, as you would be able to try all sorts of interesting projects and not just the tried and tested formats.
What kind of movie genre are you into ?
Unpopular opinion:
VC/PE with good people is all about learning about industries and trying to problem solve. The job never gets old because industries are always changing. Even banking could be very fun if it was presented in the right light.
Second this - few jobs where you get to learn about companies and industries like VC/PE, the problem is the people can make it suck realy bad
Investment Banking. You really don't get it do you, beta cuck loser. I'm a sigma, I don't care about the money or prestige, all I love is the Hustle.
High School math teacher (calc 1 & calc 2)
Yeah high school history teacher + varsity coach. I think if money wasn’t a factor, this is a job that gives you the sense that you are doing something meaningful, having an effect on society and individuals, and also has pretty good wlb. Having winter, spring, summer break sounds fantastic.
That’s interesting. My track coach was also the football coach and also taught history. So I guess he figured it all out early
Psychologist
What would you do as a psychologist? I’ve interned in the field and was doing Neuroimaging Analysis as well as clinical trials in new drugs for Alzheiemer’s/Dementia.
Chair of Fed
Video game streamer
xqc $100,000,000 waking up in the afternoon and playing video games. lol
Working in an animal shelter or zoo (love animals)
Marine Biologist
Great answer. If only those poor saps made more than 40k a year...
Orchestra Conductor
I don't work in my dreams
Architecture historian
College Football Coach or a Serial Entrepreneur
Actor, probably
Lego master builder
CIA
Analyst or Operative?
Performance driving instructor
ethologist, wildlife photographer, or FO of a sports team
Law enforcement with jurisdiction on human/sex/child trafficking.
I would also do this in the private sector.
Poker Player, 420 owner or grower, Psychiatrist, Gardener, or VC/PE/M&A.
Running my own family office.
film composer
Ambassador to a low-ish profile, safe, friendly country in a beautiful location. Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, maybe Argentina?
Lots of socializing and amenities, minimal public profile, relatively few real responsibilities
Vienna for lunch, Venice for dinner …And Dubrovnik for breakfast
Watchmaker, high school teacher, carpenter, movie critic. Any of the above would be nice.
Singer, currently pursuing this you could say
Jazz Musician
Paleontologist
Musician or travel blogger
Musician
Too many interests to focus on one thing. Music, history, technology, public policy, "alternative" men's fashion, architecture, theology, cosmology, cute dogs, film, finance/economics, etc. Classic case of paralysis of choice. So even if I had $10 billion there is no one job that would be my "dream" job. I'd get bored with it and want to do something else.
I actually think a lot of famous, hyper-successful people (not all, of course) aren't polymaths or persons with many interests. They're hyper-focused on certain topics and on achieving a specific goal.
Fisherman, specifically in a remote location, probably somewhere tropical. Hard work yet a simple life, get a good tan, sustainable. Would love it.
Working in a bath house
LOL what
Would love to be an Architect at Vandelay Industries. If that's not an option, working in Imports & Exports at the same firm is a close second.
Play for the dodgers
Johnny Sins
Racecar Driver
Chef and/or run a hospitality company opening bars, restaurants, etc.
Pro golfer or rock star
A baker or a butcher/heritage pork and beef breeder.
What Anthony Bourdain did (after drugs) for his TV show.
One day it would be awesome to teach AP Micro/Macro/US History and coach a sport/help out with athlete strength training. Combines my interests with mentorship and improving lives while being able to witness the fruits of your labor rather than writing a check to XYZ organization.
High end bike shop mechanic
furniture builder
Working in equity research
Back on my team in the Army without injuries.
Hooah
I'd totally go for being a professional dog cuddler or a chief food taster at a fancy restaurant. But realistically, my dream job would be traveling the world as a professional beach bum, rating beaches based on their sand quality and sunset vibes.
I'd work as a park ranger in a national park—something about nature, quiet, and showing people cool trails sounds perfect. The idea of stepping away from the hustle and spending my days outdoors really appeals to me, even though it's far from lucrative. Funny enough, I saw that the top earning state is Maryland - $59,330 for this role, which is higher than I expected for something so peaceful.
Would love to work at a manufacturing venture lab or something of the sort. Dean Kamen's DEKA and the founder of 5-hour energy had a firm like this. Just hire people that like to tinker and hope they can invent things to patent and license or sell.
