Financial Face Lift

I don't normally like to spamvertize recommended reading, but I get the feeling that Satyajit Das's, "Traders, Guns & Money: Knowns and Unknowns in the Dazzling World of Derivatives" will be a goodie if it is anything like his elevator pitch interview on CNBC .

In what should be dubbed "must see TV for the Liberal Idiot" Das cooly points out what the 20/20 vision/above 51 IQ crowd has been saying for the past two years. We have grown tired of the prosperity and invigorating competition of capital markets and have decided to try on a new pair of shoes. The really really red ones. Government issue.

I suggest readers focus on and consider his "kicking the can down the street" comment. Yes gentlemen, your years of hard work and dedication WILL be effected by these policies. Godspeed to those of you who endorse it! Squinting real hard and staring at Excel intently today will not make these issues go away tomorrow.

The analogy of botox to the face and what the sty-moo-lusk has done to markets and our economy is quite poignant, IMHO. We have taken the saggy, floppy rack of a has been trophy wife, pumped it full of salene, thrown it in a push up and happilly entered her into candidacy for the next Victoria's Secret Angel Contest. The only "good" thing about our decision is the fact that the other countries also entered the bastard fourth grandnieces of their inbred royal lineages, so our hideous mess looks a little less putrid by comparison.

As many of us "capitalists" said two years ago, "it is going to take a couple of years for this mess to really become visible to everyone". Now that the turds are floating above proposed toilet limits and the raspberry lemonade colored water is floating across your refinance backed bathroom tiles...don't say we didn't warn ya...

Time for the Ostriches to dunk their domes again.

Solid post. It's definitley true that this mess appears less worse than it actually is due to what we're comparing our situation to - other floating turds.

Btw, excellent analogies -> especially the trophy wife.

Great post.

I agree...we are definitely the tallest midget.

Regards
