Firm I am interviewing at wants to fly me out to “visit”.

Hedge Fund I have been interviewing for (~3B AUM, ~5 people) has asked if I would be willing to come "visit" the office and the city they are based in for a day. This is after 3-4 rounds of interviews, meeting everyone in the group, stock pitches, etc. so I thought there wouldn't be any further steps. Maybe they just want to hang out with me to feel me out in person or maybe they want to grill me/in person interview me which seems a bit excessive after everything. What do you guys think?

I think you're over thinking a good opportunity. Take the opportunity. Sure you could argue "they got this" but if they're taking the time to fly you out, put you up, feed you and then put down blocks of their own time (specifically if it's a small shop like you say) to meet with you. Sure you made a good pitch, but are you some bottombuckethardo or are you someone they want to work with every day?

I'll let someone else come after why is this post in OT and not HF or Jobs.

You’ve basically passed the interview test and they just want to hang out and make sure you’re normal. I’ve done this before. It’s no big deal. Job is yours to lose to most likely

Yeah sounds like you have the job - this is a "just making sure this guy isn't a dud" test. If you're any normal person you should pass this test - just have fun and be you.

Sounds like a casual get to know you - don't blame them, at a 5 person firm you better like everyone who works for you.

I would absolutely do this, assuming they are covering all the expenses

it's to make sure you aren't a weirdo. I hear you have met the team but that is something that was probably a bit formal and something you would've anticipated/prepared for. think of this as a personality test.

Sounds like a fun, free trip where you'll get to meet your coworkers. I'd take it in a heartbeat. I've been working for my firm for just over a year now and I still haven't met a single one of my coworkers IRL.
