Always thought it was funny that people raged over the idea of folks doing this. You mean if you show preferential treatment towards a group over an arbitrary characteristic that has no bearing on their ability to perform, people not in that group will try to game the system to maximize their own advantage? I think its a matter of people not wanting to lie. Regardless of what their opinion is of URM admissions.
I would never do it. But I also am the type of person that wants to be sure i got it 100% due to my own merits. To each their own.
