Going Out in Chicago

I recently moved to Chicago (Pilsen). Where can I find some good bars and whatnot? I've been going out in University Village mostly. I live right by the Pink Line, so preferably easily accessible via that. I could transfer to the blue line, but I really just don't like commuting and it fucks up my buzz.

Nothing besides Mexican bars and restaurants is in my general vicinity.

Lot of good bars in River North and Old Town. Both have a young professional crowd, especially River North. Lincoln Park is also a ton of fun, but it has more college aged kids.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@ch1guy I liked the place a lot. I wouldn't find anything comparable for the price anywhere else near school/work. But I'm hardly home and I only really use the kitchen and my room, so I'm looking for something closer to campus because I'm there every day. I can get downtown where I work quickly from there too.

I'd even get one of those shitty $300 a month places that only fits a twin bed. I don't really give a shit at this point in my life. All I need is some clothes, a bed, and my laptop. But I feel like it would impede my getting laid pursuits. I've always had a decent place to come home to.

@"rogersterling59 I'm looking for more of a college crowd. I'm just an intern.

Gotcha. Check out Wrigleyville (Clark St. near Addison Red Line stop) for all your college boozing needs. (Relatively) cheap booze, and other college age kids.

Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about the Pilsen area.

That's farther than University Village. Maybe I just need to get over my assumption that living in the city, I'd be able to get anywhere in like 10 minutes, and embrace the CTA. I just hate being on the CTA alone when I'm in "going out" mode. Depresses me. And I hate switching trains and shit. But hey, no more DWIs!

What isn't there to love? Urban environment, tons of financial firms, great food, great schools. The lake is amazing in the summer. Lower cost of living.
