Herman Miller Chair Worth It?

Currently an AN1 at a firm that has a flexible policy towards WFH (late work and weekend work can be done from home), and I am thinking of getting WFH set up.

I am looking at the Herman Miller Verus (link below), and it seems great, especially the 12 year warranty! However, I am not sure if spending £450/$600 on a chair can be justified though, bearing in mind I will be getting a sit/stand desk and that I only WFH c.15 hours a week.

To the Herman Miller owners out there - are the chairs worth it? Or am I better off getting a standard office chair with a 5 year warranty from Amazon for c.£150/$200?

Thanks!

I have an aeron remastered and it’s worth 10x the money (not that I would have actually bought it if it was 10x). Like sitting on air, no physical discomfort to pull your focus away from your tasks.

Same as others - 450. Check fb marketplace and craigslist repeatedly if you want a) a newer model (like the remastered) b) a cheaper price than $5-600 or c) any color other than black. Highly recommend, and worth waiting a week or two until you have the right deal. Echoing Isaiah too - the chair will last 12 years for the warranty, they're built right.

I have a used Aeron i got for $450. I like it - gives good back support and is comfortable for longer sitting sessions. Only a couple negatives in my mine: 1. My ass falls asleep sometimes. If sitting in the “pocket” of the seat toward the back, it will fall asleep after a while. 2. No neck/head support. This isn’t really an issue if you are looking to sit with proper posture anyway.

Overall would recommend it, but not for full price. Look for a used chair and don’t pay more than $500 USD.

I have a $450 chair that I got in 2006 that still is great. Spend money on quality - it’s worth it.

I got an Aeron Remastered last year, it was worth it.

Worth upgrading the arm pads to leather. The atlas headset was not worth it for me.

We had these chairs in banking and I personally could not stand them. They were highly uncomfortable, easily breakable, the adjustments didn't make any sense for how a human body is shaped. I got a $250 chair off of wayfair for my home office and it's phenomenal - has four-way adjustment setting for each of the main pivot points that align well to your body. Herman Miller chairs are trash.
