Do you mean like an every day chef or an on call one? My parents have one they’ll use 1-2 a week if they’re hosting people, think it works out to like ~300 a head for the meal and the chef covers groceries, with the price scaling down as you add more people.
As far as full time chefs, know a partner in VC that has a full time one who cooks 3 meals a day for his family. The chef is a full time employee so he’s paying something like 100k a year for salary and benefits, which doesn’t even include food costs. Pretty insane expense
I mean, they’re in a big city (non NYC) and the chef is there cooking breakfast at 7am and cleaning dinner at 10pm. Works weekends (dinners only) as well.
If you can afford it, there are plenty of companies that send you pre-made meals that you just have to heat up from frozen or from the fridge (these are more the daily/bi-weekly delivery companies) which are pretty much made to order by you based on your subscription model. No effort in cooking, much more personalized but cheaper than a chef. Look into this.
And is it really necessary? Why not just eat at a restaurant or let's go to McDonald's? I think even this option will be cheaper than hiring a personal chef.

I just ask my mom and it's free
IMO most moms make better food than restuarants. Quality food+ nostalgia is hard to beat
Intern hiring a personal chef? Power move
How is this catching any MS?

Dude, quit thinking small. Think big.
Sounds like a dream
imagine not having to cook yourself and not having to eat your chicken you prepped last Sunday on a Friday afternoon
how often do your parents host people over to your place?

I am equally interested in the answer to this question.
