I think people eventually make time for what they are interested in
If he had no interest, I doubt he would write multi-paragraph, meaningful texts. Most MF PE associates are getting smoked by work. He could be doing other things. Not enough context though (e.g., how many dates have you been on, how long have you been talking, has the response rate worsened over time, etc.).

I mean people do sleep from time to time...all kidding aside, it's a pretty demanding job and working 7 days a week is definitely not unusual by any means. If he's working on an active deal or two, he very well might have close to no control over his near-term schedule.
