How do you pick who to roommate with when moving out?

If one is single and looking to move out, how does one make the decision on who to move in with? Is complete strangers a good option? Else would you take the plunge and move in with your best mates? What happens if it doesn't work out and you realise you hate living with them and end up hating their guts?

This. I don’t recommend people who I don’t know aka. Haven’t seen their previous place/dorm. Visiting a person’s abode really will tell you how good they are as a person and as a roommate.
