how hard is it to find a room in NYC (with girlfriend)
Planning to move to NYC this summer... with girlfriend from college.
Are people on craigslist who posted available rooms okay with couple living in one room?

I read your title and I thought you were asking if it was easy to find a room that came with a girlfriend. But, about your question I doubt many would have a problem with it, some might but most prob wont.

I rented rooms to a few bankers over the summer. As a former manhattan landlord, couple responses to CL ads get tossed. Like poster said before, get a studio because couples get charged more and your search will be difficult.
Just look at your girlfriend as a degree from a non-target and trying to find a room like trying to find an IB job. Good luck.

Dude be wary of NYC people on craigslist. I rented an apt there using craigslist and the lady was a freak show (then again half of manhattan is a freak show, I got love for the outer boroughs tho).
Still craigslist is your best option. I would just carefully screen who you rent from, and go with the safer option even if you pay a bit more. Meet them in person before hand, visit the apt beforehand, sign a sublease contract (and get it notarized, or notorized (in bk, especially bedstuy)), etc etc... can never be too careful.
If you have the cash, use a broker. You'll be safe(r). FYI I paid like $1600/mo for mine in summer of 09 (studio in the upper west side). Now the prices have probably gone up.
