How much to tip your seamless orders?
How much do you tip on your $25 / $30 / $35 seamless order? What's your tipping guideline?
This one time I was able to get my sushi order to exactly $24.00. I was excited because that was the closest I would ever get to maximizing my $25 dinner allowance and. But, that meant I could only tip $1! An hour later, I got the call and went down to meet the delivery guy. He called my name and then shamed me publicly. "Is this you? Only tipping $1? Is this you?" I was honestly embarrassed and left without saying much.
What's your seamless order story and what's your moral compass (or lack thereof) when it comes to tipping seamless delivery guys?
The rest of the allowance that I have usually. If it's less than $3 I just make it $5.
We all make how much money minimum again in finance and yet you couldn't just open your wallet and give the guy cash? Come on man. These guys work hard and work a thankless job and get less than the equivalent of a "thx" in most cases. I always made sure to keep some cash in my wallet if my order went to the point where I'd be shafting the guy on the tip to stay at/under the limit, and would even put in the instructions/notes "WILL TIP IN CASH".
I'll play devils advocate:
What infuriates me the most is when I'm paying 2-3 dollars in "delivery fees" and then the guy is telling me that the fee is not a tip.
A lot of these restaurants charge delivery fees, serve smaller portions when ordering online, and the food is a little more expensive on the website than in person.
You do realize that the delivery fee is not going to the person doing the delivery right? It's going to seamless / uber eats / etc.
Always tip whatever is left. The abso worst is when you realize that the tip doesn' affect the tiem of your delivery. I've spent more than half of my allowance on the tip and my order gets canceled almost every time. I'm also scared if I barely tip. It's crazy that drivers know how much you tipped!
If I pay via cash, rounding up, which is like 15-20%. If I pay via card or online, 2 Euros, which is around 15% for most orders. Simple, really.
Do delivery persons have the ability to see the tip on an order before accepting it?
Before, I'll admit in banking it was a lot of squeezing value and not tipping as much as we should like the scumbags we were. Now my fund allows orders from either caviar / seamless / doordash with a 50 buck per night not including delivery fees which makes my life much easier.
I will say though as a former member of the food service industry, tip well pls. I should have before and sure as hell do now, and especially for personal meals.
You could just tip cash lol
