How or where did you meet your spouse/partner?

I'm interested in hearing how you guys met your spouse and if you particularly value meeting potential partners in certain fields/areas..

In college. I got lucky, we happened to have a couple of courses together and started talking.

A little talking at a club in Hell's Kitchen during a friend's 21st birthday when I walked away from bottle service for a few minutes to dance. I did a little frenching and we exchanged numbers before I took somebody hotter home. Six years later, and we've adopted a small dog together.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Abs for show, personality for go.

Funniest

Only downside to the IG model types is they're stupid as shit.  I was talking to one for awhile (not as hot/famous as the big ones) and she got involved in a pyramid scheme and wouldn't listen to me becuase "this ones different".

friend of a friend's housewarming party. she was with another guy at the time, we matched a couple months later on hinge because she remembered liking our conversation

I used to hit up the big easy before it closed - knew the owner and all the waitress chicks. Good times.

I went on a date with one trying to become an influencer. On  pictures she was a 11/10, but in person a 6/10 at best. Her teeth looked really funny, and it made sense why in all of her pictures, she didn't smile..

She kept on cancelling dates literally a day or a few hours before. We finally met on the 4th time we coordinated the date, and 3 hours before we met she had told me about some dinner plans she had with friends and that our date had to end by a certain time .. I said ok and made plans to drink with a friend after the date. At the end of the date, she tells me that her plans were cancelled, but by that point her  flakeyness had turned me off and decided catching up with a friend would be more fun than spending more time with her.

lol me too - thanks to my divorced parents and my addiction to porn, my idea of what a healthy relationship with women looks like is so out of whack that I am going to be single for a very long time.

Can echo this. My parents are not divorced, but it cannot be more obvious that my father does not love my mother anymore, and my mother has mentioned to me ~10 times she had thought about getting a divorce if not for my sake. I appreciate they decided to sacrifice their happiness for me, but it also means I have a hard time believing in finding someone, or what they call "true love".

I was thinking about the pandemic and not being able to find ways to meet people but okay sure I feel you

Tough Irish broad from NJ.  NFG to me or anyone else.  Handles all finances.  Through good years and bad.  Traditional.  She worked for many years earning very good money running hotels (not Motel 6's, Days Inn,etc).  Found out her balance sheet was destroyed with PAST issues.  Quit the day we found out we were having our first.  5 kids and 25 years later...

People always ask how we do it.  I tell everyone we have a "90 /5 /5 rule".  5% she gets no say in our decisions (e.g. transfer for work), 5% I get no say (e.g. house/city we live in), and 90% of the time it simply isn't worth arguing about.  Do i really care if she bought a new couch I will NEVER sit in?  In the grand scheme of things, no.  Do I care that I have designated spots in the house to chew Copenhagen?  Nah.  It's messy stuff.  Has she ever bought anything nice for herself...never.  A new car, a new house...yes  but never any baubles, trinkets or shoes.

I left NYC for MBA, needed Golfing, Copenhagen and Hardees money.  Got paid cash to wash dishes every day from 6am to 3pm at a restaurant. $80 goes a long way in Jacksonville.  She was the GM of the restaurant (and two others), I worked at.  We hit it off immediately, once she realized, I wasn't LITERALLY a dishwasher. She ended up getting fired for "sleeping with the staff" and "sexual harassment" after being snitched on by her Assistant.  The district manager (great guy) immediately knew who I was, what was gong on, and just laughed at the absurdity of it.  He had to enforce policy though as this was a very rare situation.

At our wedding, my best man made the toast and said the following.  "One D.O.U.G.'s boss, always D.O.U.G.;s boss" and the place broke up.

I have no idea how the under 40 set finds anyone in this toxic environment.  I got real lucky.

Namaste. D.O.U.G.
