How to sell yourself in interviews when you have bad credentials?
Yeah, I mean title basically says it all, a bit funny to be honest but no need to rub it in please.
I had to live at home through college and deal with my mother and her drug addicted boyfriend. Lots of drama, distractions, high stress situations, and I worked pretty much the whole time to help with rent/food/whatever else. Sob story aside, I graduated with a 2.8 GPA from a good but non target school. Econ major, history minor. I'd like to go into management consulting or something similar, my mind is open because it has to be at this point.
I'm looking for suggestions on what to say to set myself apart from others. I didn't have any college extracurriculars besides some volunteer work because I didn't have time, since I was working. Also, suggestions for other industries/jobs that could lead into consulting are welcome. Just looking for some general advice, I'm about to graduate and am networking and reaching out to some people at firms that I'd like to work at. I'm relocating to NYC, if that matters.
....
Wow yeah I'll def try that.
Are you dead set on IB or going for the broad field of finance? Or are you open to other career options?
Currently thinking about consulting. I'm open to finance in general though, I think I have to be! Haha.
