I'm a surface pro fan for the portability and because it can do double-duty as a tablet.  If you're doing heavy lifting you may still need a desktop though.  Even my work laptop struggles to run my quad 4k turret with numerous poorly coded data services (Looking at you Bloomberg and FactSet)

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Hands down the best laptop company around right now.   https://frame.work/  Framework is changing the way you interact with your laptop.  It is insanely customizeable, repairable, and upgradeable.  Need an HDMI port for a presentation?  Swap out your USB-C connection for the HDMI one and boom you are good to go.  This is a game changer for the way the major companies will have to address their own design processes.

That's great, I've always been a huge fan of interchangeable parts and modularity. Laptops are great but I'd always been more partial to desktops for that reason, I can swap out a monitor or keyboard or whatever whenever I want to/need to, plus if you're into building your own PCs you can swap out components as well (I'm not that far into it, but I would like to try, not put together a $10k gaming PC but just something I designed myself so I can always know how to upgrade the RAM, GPU, etc. whenever I want).
