Learning Excel from Scratch
I've used Excel and PPT minimally (they aren't listed in my "Skills" section) and I have two months to get good at it before FT. Assuming I've never touched Microsoft Office before and want to be able to at least not be lost when the job starts, what's the best bang for the buck course/book(s)? I was looking through some course syllabi for financial modelling and some use textbooks that are 500+ pages--I wonder if those would focus too much on text and too little on me actually poking around excel/ppt.
bump. I can’t stand 2.5 hour courses or 50 min YouTube tutorials that can be broken down in like a 30 min course or 15 min tutorial. so inefficient
"Excel Is Fun" if you want a free resource on Youtube, alternatively the Excel crash course on Wall Street Prep is fairly cheap and is more than sufficient.
I wouldn't worry too much about PowerPoint, just set up your Quick Access Toolbar efficiently with align & distribute (surprisingly many don't do this).
just think of a project that could be useful for s&t and try to do it. google when you don’t know a function or syntax. that’ll teach you excel way quicker than any course
