LinkedIn profile headshot: left vs right shoulder/side?

For a professional headshot, is it more symmetrical (better) to have your headshot facing your right or your left side/shoulder? Is there a 'correct' option? Which is the best shoulder/side to face the camera in line with the rest of the profile?

Bonus: I have decided to go no smiling, are you all cheesin' in yours?!

"Banking Sucks Guys" The only thing I like about this website is that it makes me realize I’m not crazy neurotic. I’m normal neurotic.

This is a serious question though! I understand it sounds more type A than I am (much more) but I wanted to copy my mentor's pic but realized he parts his hair on the other side than me and then that made me evaluate his shoulder placement in his, then made me start to question what looks smoother in Linkedin!

I've read the 'hair theory' left-to-right is more masculine but idk if this is true.

My hair grows right-to-left but I changed it in undergrad after reading the hair theory. Now seeing my mentor has a right to left part I switched it again to that (the natural side). WIll see how it feels for a couple of days.

Never knew there was a theory about this, but I just looked around at the 20 odd people around me in the office and all the guys (who aren't bald) have it going left to right besides one guy but he's really the most useless and annoying lump of fat in the office.

So based on my brief study - Left to right is top notch, right to left is a useless lump of fat.

Don’t overthink it man. There will be many people with different opinions. One says no smile, the other slight smile, one will then say facing straight and another to have a slight tilt. In the end it is just a picture on which you need to present yourself in a professional and approachable way. How you want to do that is up to you

Honestly I think you should go for more of an action-shot. Maybe doing a black-flip where your face is all scrunched up, or maybe jetskiing with water pelting you in the face. No one likes a boring suit & tie gentleman staring dead in the camera. Show recruiters that you're more than just a businessman and don't take anything too seriously.

Depends which side of your head you were dropped on as a kid so adjust pose appropriately to hide the concavity.

Smiling is definitely frowned upon and viewed in most regards as unprofessional so keep that stoic clout up right.
