MD keeps threatening return offer
Working as an intern. Dick of an MD keeps making a shit joke where he’s serious and half joking about I have to “stay on the right track”, “do what he says” etc… to “pass his screening”.
These jokes are fucking annoying, my work is perfect, the output I do is great and I can’t be bothered dealing with such an insecure insincere prick who wants to see submission to feed their ego.
I just act unaware and say “sorry I don’t understand what you mean” and “can you repeat that again” for him to realise his jokes aren’t funny (especially in front of others) and no one is laughing but any advice would be appreciated as I want to put them to sleep.
Not sure if it's you or him with the ego. Suck it up
The number one thing I hated was having to laugh at your boss's shitty jokes. It's soul sucking but just do it.
Is it better to have a bad relationship or good relationship with your chain of command?
It sucks but you just gotta keep laughing with him. He literally does have the power to end ur career, so stay on his good side
the easy answer is get off the spectrum and just fake laugh. the faster you learn to do this the easier the rest of your professional career will be.
You're an intern, your work probably is not as perfect as you think. What will actually lose you the return is being an egotistical junior that can't take a joke. Take yourself a little less seriously, realize the guy is joking, and laugh at his jokes.
Im not an actor but i dont think its that difficult to just do a brief chuckle
Something is seriously wrong with you & your generation's thin-skin. Not only do you not deserve banking, later generations with your attitude don't deserve a place on this planet,in any context
lololololololollololol, sir ! lolololololol loved your joke, sir you shall become a comedian
You are absolutely in the wrong here lol. The fact that you can't take his jokes might actually mean you don't get a return offer.
Hopefully you didn't blow this up. Also it's March, not sure where you're interning
And just like that I disregard anything else you have to say.
To echo the other comments, yeah just deal with it dude you're an intern. It's not like you're gonna have to work under him for the fulltime offer if you return.
1st Law: Never Outshine The Master.
I hope I've made my point , and hope that you're smart
God, doesn't it just suck when your boss, who probably has decades more experience and success, doesn't acknowledge that actually he should be learning from the you, and that really you the intern are the intelligent one with the flawless work product and really you should be MD and not him?
