Meeting someone you’ve never met before and finding out they work in IB is triggering

As the title says, meeting a new person and finding out they work in IB puts me in fight or flight mode. It’s like this sudden primal urge of anxiety, fear, jealousy, competitiveness and maybe even panic. Even though I’m in M&A myself, I can’t help but feel threatened and would immediately distort my view on that person, irrespective to what they’ve said to me up until that point. It’s such a strong, negative feeling that I can’t describe and want to suppress. The only other thing that comes up as triggering as this were the actual traumatic incidents I had as a child. I know this isn’t therapy, but I still can’t understand why this feeling is so unnecessarily exaggerated?

Also it’s not that deep just asking if anyone else feels like this smh

I honestly thought your bank would be far worse than Jefferies. I think you should change your mentality, otherwise, you’ll be miserable even if you work at GS or CVP.

you are a sad person. i feel bad for you. change. read fiction. read philosophy, history, etc. go outside. touch grass. jfc

Cool yeah I’ll do all those things with the zero time I have on my hands already. Getting overworked is one thing, hating on everyone else in the industry is another
