Need to quickly find NY apartment
Hi all, first time moving to NY for lateral. Office is in financial district. Where should I live? I’m ok with commute, and really looking to live alone if possible. Any resources would be greatly appreciated

streeteasy.com or Zillow. Refresh it often. Be first and fast
The answer (i.e. where to live) depends on what industry and role you're lateraling to. Is it an analyst position and is it IB?
Analyst and CB, not IB
Okay, I'm not as familiar with CB but I don't expect it to be the same hours as IB (correct me if I'm wrong). With that in mind, you don't have to live in Manhattan. Look into Brooklyn, Long Island, and New Jersey. As the previous commenter stated, try streeteasy and zillow. Make sure to be on it like a hawk and call the real estate agents directly. Tell them you're looking to move in fast and ask for a virtual tour of the building and apartment. If you're dead set on living in Manhattan, try Midtown (Hell's Kitchen area) or Harlem as they are cheaper.
FiDi have of the cheapest apartments out of all of midtown/downtown Manhattan. Less studios tho, so join a bunch of FB Roomate groups, as well as ones on Craigslist and try to get a 3 bdrm.
If really urgent, look up coliving and book one of those places for a few months before settling into an apartment lease.
I’m also looking for roommate for lease starting August—feel free to DM
Just be sure you can get a cashiers check for 3x rent if needed immediately to close when you find a good place. Apartments close fast sometimes especially in the summer so be prepared to close immediately. See as many places as you can - usually there is one thing missing from places (long walk to metro, no W/D, odd rooms etc). If nothing is missing, you’ll pay the extra price for it.
Have a 1bd in Midtown I can rent out - assume 2.5k/month is reasonable?
