The fact that Prigozhin was able to invade Russia with more success that Russia's invasion of Ukraine and suffer no consequences whatsoever shows how fucked things are. Despite all his tough guy posturing, Putin does not have a monopoly on violence in his country.
We will definitely need to see the details of the agreement that Lukashenko brokered to see how things really went. If Prigozhin was able to have Putin get rid of the generals he doesn't like it will be an even bigger loss for Putin.
Is it really "invading" Russia if he's a Russian oligarch and a large portion of his men were already in Russia? Fair point that this proves Putin isn't the only big bad in the country, but I'd be willing to bet he can only do this because so many military resources are concentrated on the Ukraine front at present.
Did your bride end up getting imported from Russia or did the war mess things up?
Scary situation. I've got a friend who has friends and family still in Moscow, apparently there's a ceasefire for the time being but no one has a clue where this is headed/how bad it could get. Russian government is about to learn a hard lesson about working with mercenaries and that they can switch sides quite easily. Will be interesting to see how Putin responds and whether this escalates what's being done in Ukraine. I only hope that the violence from Prigozhin is concentrated against the government. If this is the brick that brings down the wall and ends the war, hard to argue not looking at it as a net positive.
