The DB9 is a sportscar whereas the Quattroporte is a ultra-luxury sedan. So for the speed demon, the DB9 is the right choice. And for the guy who wants room for the wife and kids, the Quattroporte would be most appropriate.

Neither car suits you at all. You don't seem to know jack shit about sports vehicles. Who the hell compares an English legend like the DB9 to the mid-life crisis that is Maserati?

Either way, as a guy starting out in private equity, there's only one car you need to look at: the Mercedes E63 AMG. More than enough power to go out in a ball of flame while still projecting the image of an established man who's in control of himself.

Fair enough - though Maserati as a whole is no slouch. Quite legendary, actually. Italian vs. British is another debate.

I think asking what car is best suited for your job is asinine, but seeing as this is the "Monkeying Around" section, I'll indulge your silly question. I like the E63 advice above, but I would go a different direction. I'd go with the new S-class coupe, with the caveat that I'd wait until AMG got their hands on it and stuffed a V12 (possibly with turbos?) in it.

A bit more conservative than the Db9, but I would check out the Jag XJL 5.0 Supercharged. Not over the top flashy but still one of the sexiest cars out there and plenty of performance.

Drive a modest car for now so you can cop a Wraith later.

That's awesome, new Rolls?

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

Yeah. It's really nice in person. I like it more than the Phantom coupe honestly.

911 turbo. Done.

I like Porsches, but I can't help but to think anyone who drives one is a douche. I'd still drive one.

Porsches look like chick cars compared to the masculinity of an Aston Martin or Jaguar.

The lack of knowledge about cars in this thread almost hurts my head....

Why does your job title at work have anything to do with the type of car you drive? Drive what makes you happy, what you feel attracted to. DB9s are nice, horribly outdated though. Driven one a few times...they're fun but the infotainment system blows, the switchgear is garbage, and honestly unless you're laying out for a new one, the old ones are pretty underpowered for the money. They're also not reliable. They're painfully beautiful and make a wonderful sound, but thats about it.

The new Q-porte is nice, but honestly if you want a great sedan, the M5 is the only way to go. E63, CLS63, and S8 are also acceptable answers. If you really want a coupe, get an M6. Or a 911 Turbo...one of the quickest cars in the world. Not bad for about 150k.

Totally agree on the Aston; been in a few and that exhaust note is euphoric - I could listen to that all day. But thats probably because the car isnt working right thus cant be driven. In terms of a luxury sedan with sports performance, go for a S or SL Benz with AMG, or the M vehicles in the BMW lineup. If you want a sports seden with luxury, go with a Panamera GTS. Coupe? Hands down the 911 Turbo. On public roads or even the track, this car is insanely quick.

I have an S8 and it's a boat. The size undermines the speed. I wouldn't get a car that big again, but I got it fully loaded 2-3 years used for 50k, so at the time it seemed like a good idea.

S8s are cool, I've always had a weakness for them. But Audi handling is never on par with BMW or even Mercedes handling, especially in recent years. Somehow they can't seem to figure out how to make the steering feel alive or tune the chassis for anything but understeer at the limit. I definitely have a weakness for huge, powerful sedans though.

I was JUST about to say, congrats to everyone in this thread for not mentioning a rusty Honda, but this gets pretty close.

Honestly a used Jaguar F-type coupe R would be a decent ride until I can roll with the big dogs and if I want to be more friendly and less conversational a used Mercedes G wagon would suffice. When that happens I'll probs purchase a Bentley Continental GT V8 S, RR Wraith or an Aston Martin Vanquish S.

Keep it together and you will go far..
