I don't know about a pardon, but I gotta say that QAnon Shaman is the funniest crap that came out of all this....he's also a good reminder as to how stupid this whole thing was rather than a planned coupe to overtake the US government.

There is a difference also in "planned to get in the building" and "planned a coupe of the government". Will be an interesting investigation. If there is evidence of a plan to kidnap and hold hostage legislators, then I would agree.

Just as a casual observer....I didn't see the protestors armed with M16s at every window, no snipers on the roof, no hostages, no exchanges of gunfire other than one incident. I did see a bunch of goofballs dressed as shamans taking selfies and walking around aimlessly.

Is that absolutely wrong to do with our central government building? Absolutely!! Is that a coup? Little more questionable.

The whole "recon tours" claim by the Democrats seems very far-fetched to me. Why would Republicans want an armed mob to storm the Capitol, while they were inside? You can't tell an average Democrat apart from an average Republican.

If a “few people with bad intentions” is the standard for classifying this as a coup then do you think MSM is playing a double standard with the protests in Portland and Seattle over the summer?

Court documents suggest that part of the plan was to capture and assassinate certain elected officials

The rooms in the capitol aren't labeled. How did they know exactly where to go to get into Pelosi's office?

On a side note: It's obviously very funny to make fun of these people because they are idiots and psychos, but I do have a bit of sympathy for the ones who got roped into it in the heat of the moment. These people were trusting the word of their President and genuinely believed the election was stolen, because the were told 10,000 TIMES by Trump that it was stolen. Now, Trump has turned on them and their lives are completely ruined. A lot of these people served in the military and truly love their country, and seriously thought they were saving it and doing a good thing. As for the people who abused the police officers and even killed one, I hope they get what they deserve. Same thing goes for all the fucks wearing the neo-Nazi gear. I have 0 sympathy for those people

It’s a bit more complicated than that . Conservative social media has constantly reported on election fraud with experts giving witness talks about voting machines etc . I’m not here to judge the validity of these reports but just know it is far more complicated than “Trump gave the word!.” which is what MSM likes to throw at you.

This sounds like a Trump interview.... "I'm not here to judge the validity of these very smart expert reports but its definitely a complicated a situation with lots of evidence on both sides, also I pulled these out of my ass and out of thin air but its definitely complicated"

I agree with you that conservative media outlets also play a major role in this. I think these people worship Trump in an almost cult-like fashion. If Trump conceded immediately after the election, or even after all the legal cases were settled, I don't think this insurrection would have happened even if media outlets were still spewing bullshit about election fraud. Trump is at the center of all of this, and I think he is to blame for what happened. All he needed to do was concede and admit that the election wasn't rigged, and this whole thing would have never happened.

Agreed. Many of the rubes aren't bad people, they're just dumb and gullible. They think they are preventing the exact coup they are inciting. Far more blame falls on the right wing politicians and media heads who know better yet still push the false narrative that the election was stolen.

"I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."

Would this pardon be before or after Trumps pardons himself? Anyone who thinks the attack on the Capitol was not planned and coordinated in advance is naïve.  There were thousands of people at the Capitol and some of the people had weapons while a few others had handcuffs.  Pipe bombs were found near the Capitol and some heavy duty weapons were found in vehicles.  An ineffective plan is still a plan.

To have a “coordinated attack” you need to show that these incidences of weapons were planned together and not each individual cases of some isolated far right extremist. Thousands of people does not qualify as an “attack”. Any major protest has thousands of people.

For instance having the pieces of a watch laid out in front of you does not qualify that jumble of parts as a watch. The parts have to be assembled together and tell time accurately to actually be considered a watch

To this point, another theoretical question: 1,000 people enter a building in a riot and 5 of them enter with the intention of taking Nancy Pelosi hostage and setting off pipe bombs.

Did the other 995 people participate in a coup?

And even deeper, did those 5 participate in a coup or a terrorist act?

And were the firearms used?? If the presence of heavy firearms is evidence of a coup, any Republican gathering over 10 people is a coup.

I'm open to the evidence as it comes out and am interested in the investigations. But just judging as a person with two eyes, to me, it looked like randos just vandalizing a key government building and taking a bunch of selfies. We'll have to see what comes of the investigation.

This sort of reminds me of the whole voter fraud situation. There was clear evidence of some dead people voting and a few votes misplaced. Here, there is clearly some evidence of bad intent: pipe bombs etc.  Now, Trump supporters needed much more evidence to prove wide scale voter fraud, and similarly from this starting point, we need much more evidence to prove that this was a coup organized by Donald Trump.

And as was the case with voter fraud, after the investigation, we should accept the results and stop pushing fictional narratives. The FBI will get this figured out, and we'll have an answer. Round up is getting pretty massive at this point.
