[Rant] Can I just say... WSO's LI posts are not good
@WallStreetOasis.com - this has been on everyone's mind, but the LI content posted is just not good. It's either playing way too heavily on pop-culture, irrelevant, or overdone.
I think a combination of Fin-Lit, and consistent content for useful tips would be the better focus. For instance... (1) turning the free Excel course into small 30 second to 1.5 min videos to promote the content resources, (2) promoting the already established articles into IB, PE, VC, Consulting ecosystem, (3) sharing the actual content/structure of the WSO Academy instead of just parading successful candidates, (4) having the tough interview questions with an answer component as well as a rhyme or reason instead of them being one-off posts.
Here's a sample free of charge...
"Have you ever wondered why a Discounted Cashflow Analysis (DCF) is so popular for financial modelling, or even what it actually says about a company?
Well, a DCF is an intrinsic valuation methodology, meaning we look to the company's own financial statements when we make predictions on it's growth, and then we see how that compares with it's current market price.
For a more formal definition or to view our other resources, head over to WSO today. "
Curious to hear others' thoughts on this. I can't be the only one thinkin it.
Are there good LinkedIn posts?
There's definitely a threshold to pass and some of the posts have just not been passing the "not crap" threshold.
It's fine to not get traction, but don't post with the literary vernacular of a 20-something. Rather post to add some value with a consistent tone.
I’m with you on that
actually I do like to see poorly cropped screenshots of popular WSO threads to see if the funny comments I made on anon show up
to the intern doing these coalposts pls continue - maybe crop a bit better and stop censoring swear words however
I was a fan until my own post highlighting my frustration and anguish was used as a marketing ploy to promote WSO Academy. I get why they did it, but it felt very callous and transactional on their part.
"See how he failed? Don't be him. Join today!"
LinkedIn is basically Facebook these days. Baby pictures, working out, travel, etc.
"What getting cheated on by my 2nd wife taught be about B2B SaaS sales"
I thought the “day in the life” memes were funny
