Since I was very young I’ve always been fascinated by garage doors. If I didn’t go into finance I would have likely wanted to either design or make garage doors

I was pre-law for years and even took the LSAT. Eternally grateful I didn't go that route, but realistically that's where I'd be.

I studied for the LSAT and also studied for the California Bar and while the LSAT was fun and the show Suits is cool, actual law is EXTREMELY boring. With that being said, I still think about law career paths, specifically M&A law, but always have to catch myself and:
a) hit myself on the head to remember law is SUPER boring.

b) many lawyers you meet want to get out of law - they feel pigeonholed and no longer like it.

Some people don't like numbers, math, and finance, but I generally like finance and its applications. There are certain people out there who just LOVE the law and I would say it is probably 10% of lawyers or less and they are the people cut out for law. But, we are probably not law FREAKS like them.

we are not, and it was more a reflex to put it #1 which it isn't, but I always like forming legal arguments and occasionally listening to them vs models with hundreds of rows that my eyes glaze over sometimes. I was originally planning to go to law school but was discouraged after hearing a lot of what you had mentioned above.

Or actually the ideal career would be a concert pianist but becoming an established concert pianist is near impossible, hence why I gave up on that dream when I was 12

Concert Pianist or Conductor would be the dream

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

Law.  One of my favorite classes in college was constitutional law.  Going through lots of the well known cases was very interesting.
