Should I Wax My Mustache
Okay - I know the Topic Title looks silly but please hear me out. I use an electric shaver to shave my stache every morning before my internship. I don't have a lot of facial hair (Asian) but I still grow enough where I need to shave it every morning. I've been experiencing a lot of red bumps/pimples on my upper lip largely due to the shaver. Then the red bumps get irritated even more when I have to shave again the next day.
Considering that I have very little facial hair, should I just wax it? Has anyone chosen to do this before?
Thank you
Paging Dr. Daniel "Dirty" Sanchez, Dr. Sanchez, please...
No, and I think the issues comes from the shaving, most people think that electronic shaving/traditonal shaving is for everyone when it's actually not. I would recommend trying to shave with the gold old razor, shaving foam and don't forget to hydrate the skin after shaving - shaving is exfoliating. Also I always shave after the shower as the pores are more open due to the heat/humidity.
The key is to shave after the shower when the pores are open, but then rinse with cold water after the shave to close up the pores, and finally put on facial lotion (which will be less oily than body lotion; there is a difference)
Yes, I learned this from Jonathan Van Ness from Queer Eye and I stand by it.
Do you recommend any specific facial lotion brand/product?
Dude. This is the truth.
Just use a double edged razor. At first you will cut yourself but with time and practice it will provide a closer shave without irritation and redness.

I would, but in my eyes that's such a waste of money and environmental resources because I really don't have a lot of hair to make using a razor worth it if that makes any sense
Being dead serious here.
A few buddies and I in high school started using this hair removal cream from a local drugstore instead of a razor to get rid of our pubes. Cleanest and smoothest my basement has ever looked. If your problem is that serious, and for some reason any of the above answers don't work, maybe give this a shot? Literally the only downside is that you have to keep it on for a few minutes.
What was the product? Nair or something else?
Yeah - what was the brand or product? I don't want to put something random on my face
I can confirm that this works, though I have never tried it on my face. Just go to your local drugstore or supermarket and snoop around.
The one that we used to use in high school was called Veet. If you ask for hair removal cream they should have something similar.
does this actually get rid of your pubes?
Haha yea it does. Much better than any razor.
OP dont use nair on your face I think that will just irritate the red bumps even more at this point. Id grow the stache out for a couple days if you can to let the red bumps heal then use a gillete mach 3 and apply zero pressure when shaving with cream and you should be fine. make sure you only go one pass with the grain. ive had a history of horrible ingrown hairs and have tried every method of shaving before finding what works for me
Bumps around the lips are not a good look.
I recommend an electric trimmer. The same one barbers use to trim and line up your neck line. These trimmers cut the hair pretty close to the base, and shouldn't cause any ingrown hairs.
