Sleep

Feel a bit ridiculous posting on this but why not. I've struggled with insomnia the past few years. Have tried a handful of prescription meds (though I try to avoid them now), plenty of supplements, etc.

Curious if anyone was / is in the same boat and has found solutions that worked well for them. Open to all.

I've had the same issue, especially when I'm working very late or have an important deadline coming up.

I've recently stumbled across valerian root tea, which I highly recommend. It instantly calms me and helps put me to sleep. Same thing with chamomile tea, but to a lesser extent.

I also try to have as little screen time as possible before bed, though this can sometimes be hard. I normally try to read a book before bed, or listen to a podcast or audiobook (something with light subject matter).

Hope you'll be getting some better sleep soon!

Be careful with Valerian. In some people it acts in the opposite way and will cause insomnia... again slim chance but happened to me. experiment on a weekend.

I had the same issue when I started working. What ended up helping me out of my funk was a combination of sleep restriction therapy, and generally just learning to not care whether or not I fell asleep that night. For me my insomnia was entirely mental, so stressing out about a whole routine was actually counterintuitive to what I actually wanted to accomplish.

I have insomnia occasionally, but haven’t had it in a while.

What works for me is Olanzapine, I go right to sleep. Insomnia is an off label use. Your psychiatrist may prescribe it if you’re eligible.
