I don't get this, guys. This is obviously THE definitive ranking of Wall Street careers.

This is just wrong. Big 4 accounting, WTF? Actuary? No. You lost all credibility when you put the two most boring jobs in the world above S&T.

  1. Hedge Fund
  2. Venture Capital
  3. Private Equity
  4. Quant
  5. Investment Banking
  6. S&T
  7. Equity Research
  8. Consulting 9+. Stuff no one cares about.

Thank you for improving the list, but it would be nice if we included the stuff nobody cares about (extended it to include the boring and all)

Big 4 beats S and T? I'm just going to disregard this.

Ok I'll change that too.

hahaha. Second SirTradesaLot on this.

CNBC sucks "This financial crisis is worse than a divorce. I've lost all my money, but the wife is still here." - Client after getting blown up

propT>Big4>S+(T-propT) ^^

I was already so far beyond the point of no return that I couldn't remember what it had looked like when I had passed it.

Bearearns:
The fact that Hedge Fund is #5 sums up why I should disregard the thread

What number should it be in your opinion?

Listen there is no be all end all answer. People at certain positions have better lives than others and make slightly less. Working a top S&T firm or IB versus a horrible hedge fund is not apples to apples. There is no set answer, but generally speaking hedge funds are above all. But comparing hedge fund to a PE or venture capital firm is not comparing apples to apples.....

The feeling I get after reading this is the same feeling I'd have if a 7 year old came up to me and kicked me in the balls, pissed in my face, told me to clean myself up, and walked the fuck away.

A mixture of confusion, embarrassment, and genuine discomfort. Never again please.

I dont get why everybody feels like this. Could you please explain?

Probably because it's totally pointless to rank something like this. Do what you like, what you're good at, and what has a high or unlimited ceiling. Nobody is going to agree which is most desirable, let alone which is most prestigious (if you think any of these jobs have prestige to begin with). Look at your top 6 jobs....do you really think people are choosing from this set of careers? "Hmmm, I can't decide between VC and becoming an actuary. Let me check a prestige ranking to decide my fate."

This is mental masturbation without a payoff.
