The Worst Idea Ever - Riviera of the Middle East
Why are we not talking this? Every time Joe Biden stutters, this forum erupts with criticism, but when Trump proposes one the of the dumbest plans to one of the most complicated geopolitical issues, no one here bats an eye? I don't even know where to begin dismantling why this is the dumbest idea I've ever heard...should I start with the number of international laws it violates? Possibly war crimes?? I mean...removing all the Palestinians and sending them to nearby countries is ethnic cleansing...Also isn't forcing Palestinians to migrate to their neighbors a little hypocritical? I mean...Republicans hate (illegal) immigrants, but when it comes to sending migrants to other countries it's okay lol.
Hmm..actually I know exactly where to start. Let's start with what this forum knows best finance and economics. Who's going to fund the take over and rebuilding of Gaza? American taxpayers no? Um...weren't the Republicans just criticizing Biden about fumbling the US's exiting of Afghanistan? And now Trump is proposing to go back into the Middle East? And not just go back lol. He wants to use American taxpayer dollars to rebuild that war torn country. This is hilarious. He wants to cut USAID's budget, which makes up 1% of the US total budget, but yet wants to spend trillions taking over Gaza? Where are my Republican homies out there who are always talking about focusing on America and Making America Great Again. Where are you boys? Please explain to me how spending Trillions rebuilding Gaza, rather than investing in our own country, is going to Make American Great Again?
I know there are a lot of stupid people on this forum, but there's stupid and then there's fucking stupid and I want to find out who's who. So come one come all. Come defend Trump's dumbest fucking idea. I'm ready to be entertained by the level of mental gymnastics you will perform. I want to hear from the dumbest voters who voted for the dumbest president LOL
There’s definitely a growing concern that the U.S. is shifting towards a more corporate-driven labor economy, where high-skilled jobs are concentrated at the top while lower-wage labor expands. You’re right—foreign investment isn’t just free money; it comes with influence, long-term expectations, and often shifts in policy that benefit corporations over workers.
The offshoring trends that once gutted American manufacturing are now creeping into white-collar jobs through outsourcing and AI, and with the cost of living rising faster than wages, the middle class is getting squeezed. If the U.S. doesn’t invest in its own workforce—through education, infrastructure, and competitive industry policies—there’s a risk of it becoming a country where only a small percentage reap the benefits of economic growth while everyone else works to sustain that system, much like what happened in parts of China and India before their economies matured.
The key difference, though, is that America still has a strong financial system, global capital markets, and innovation hubs that make it hard to compare directly to developing labor-heavy economies. But if the priority stays on corporate profits over national strategy, you’re not wrong to be concerned about where things are headed. I’m neither a republican or democrat because in my eyes they’re all apart of the same group.
What happened to all the Republicans who supported Trump because "no new wars" before the election?
I think it's wise to view the US as what it is: an empire. We have 700+ overseas military bases, have had a hand in pretty much every coup in South America and Middle East, got caught spying on our German allies, and meddled in Australia's affairs (CIA involvement in Whitlam dismissal). Judging by the recent posturing, looks like Panama might get USA'ed (again) soon too.
The US has never (and will never) care about human rights, except if it serves US interests. If anything, I think Trump is refreshingly honest. Cross us, and we will show you what FREEDOM means. It's sad that millions of civilians... women and children... will have to pay the price.
Honestly, I have concern with the direction this country is going. Great... tampons are gone from the men's bathroom, DEI is dead, and plastic straws are back. But at what cost?
The US has barely existed for 250 years. And all the conditions were right: we were blessed with some of the best natural resources and agriculture in the world, and geographical isolation from the old world. By the time the US emerged out of isolation, China had been pummeled and carved by European colonialism, lost 20 million people in WWII, immediately followed by the madness that was Chairman Mao. If anything, all they're doing now is restoring the place that they've had for frankly thousands of years (with gaps, of course). It's a pill few people seem willing to swallow, because USA #1.
Will the US last another 250 years? Highly questionable, in my opinion.
Why are they not relocated to the West Bank? Israel could be given Gaza in exchange for removing all settlements from the West Bank. Move all Palestinians to the West Bank then create a Korea style DMZ between Israel and West Bank run by UN or International coalition where nothing crosses.
This seems like an obvious solution that nobody is even discussing. What are the holes in this scenario?
It will cause outrage from palestinians as they feel they are entitled to the land in gaza, also the border will be harder to control as it is much bigger than the gaza border (there is a reason gaza was called an open air prison, the border is hard to control and there has to be guards every 50 feet or so) and therefore there will be more terror done by hamas and it will be harder to control if palestinians are relocated to the west bank.
So the Palestinians have been run by Hamas, which is a terrorist organization. These are enemy combatants. Make your bed, lie in it.
So you are supportive of the US taking over and spending American tax dollars to rebuild Gaza?
