Wal-Mart, are they just a scam? (heister)

I have been interested in how Wal-Mart makes money, so I have been looking into the company. I have come to the conclusion that it is nothing more than a scam. Wal-Mart isn't a real independent company considering their payroll cost relies almost exclusively on government contracts. Their workers are subsidized by welfare, as you couldn't pay them that low otherwise. But they are paid so low that welfare picks up the rest of the tab. So, Wal-Mart is exploiting a huge loophole. Not really that big of a deal but it not a real market company.

I don't necessarily object to having government contracts or using government subsidies, hell I do a lot of this as well, just seems like these companies shouldn't be the darlings that they are.

What is it with everyone saying that using the law to your advantage is a scam? Geez.

I find your accusation ill-informed and quite hilarious. Not to mention, very stupid.

"Wal-Mart isn't a real independent company considering their payroll cost relies almost exclusively on government contracts."

Wow, do you work in QSR (QSR means Quick Service Restaurant, I had to explain because I knew you wouldn't Google the meaning of the word, let alone actually use a computer to research something. It's just a fancy way to say Fast Food (Fast Food means an establishment like Burger King or McDonalds (I had to explain because I knew you wouldn't Google the meaning of the word, let alone actually use a computer to research something. It's just a fancy way to say you run a drive-thru))).

Where is this coming from? Have you looked at the sources of their revenues? No? Okay cool. Have you looked at their company summary to see what they actually sell? No? Okay cool. To say that THE LARGEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD WITH REVENUES IN EXCESS OF $500B is not a 'real independent company' is one of the funniest things I've read on this website. Are you aware that you can go on Yahoo Finance or hell, even the SEC website, and pull up the 10-Ks of every public company in the US to see what their annual reports are? Heaven forbid you actually do research before you post some idiotic thread like this. I'm not sure what you refer to as "looking into the company", but posting threads on Reddit and asking the users "Can any-won tel mi how Wall-Mart werks?? I am confuzed and wood like to b a badass on the wall streat oaysis blog lol" does not count as "looking into it".

"I have come to the conclusion that it is nothing more than a scam."

I'm not entirely sure how a company with the largest global foot-print can be a scam. Don't you think someone with half of your intelligence would be able to figure out what it is by now? There are so many holes in your post, I really don't know where to begin. And I refuse to spend more time wasting my energy on you.

As someone who currently works on Wall Street and is constantly surrounded by smarter people than myself, who care enough about their work (and their dignity) to actually talk about things and make decisions based off of cold hard research and facts, I find your post very troubling. Stay off this website. Don't post meaningless threads, and keep your hyperbolic statements to yourself. You're an embarrassment to whatever company, school or organization you represent. This website was created to challenge ideas and encourage people trying to find their way into finance.

If you want to debate Wal-Mart, World of War Craft, and Mario-Kart, go hang out on Reddit or continue to read the tabloids. I'm pissed that I had to draft a response to this. If you want to discuss further, I am more than happy to oblige. I'll even bring my 5 year old sister in as back-up to deflect any tough questions you may have.

Later, brother.

Great response

Would just say that while Walmart may not be a scam, remember Enron and other companies which were touted as the greatest companies in the world, and fell just as quickly as they rose.

Jesus, no originality here anymore. I like how you literally have to copy and paste and add a sentence and a couple of substitutions. I imagine your brain might melt down if you had to write a whole paragraph on your own.
