Wasting my Time?!
I started as a full-time 1st year analyst this summer at a small LMM/MM boutique bank. I’m currently 4 months into the job and I feel like I’m wasting my time and should lateral somewhere else.
This bank doesn’t have great deal flow and I’ve only done 4 pitches in 4 months that have gone basically nowhere. To keep busy, I’ve taken on as much work as I can do. But basically, all I’m doing is constantly finding contacts for buyer lists and sourcing, doing newsletters and market research reports but not getting anything for reps. I feel like I should be getting reps early or it’s gonna screw me over since I don’t have much to speak to on a resume or in an interview.
I knew going to a small bank might be like this but I feel like this is a sign that I should start looking elsewhere while it’s early in my career so that I can get the reps I need as an analyst because all signs are pointing this being normal at this bank.
Open to your thoughts of what I could/should do.
