What are the other lucrative career paths in terms of salary and/or work-life balance besides IB & CRE?

Good Afternoon Monkeys,

Most of you have years of experience in various positions and industries, and I thought it’d be a great idea to ask what the other lucrative career paths are in terms of salary and/or work-life balance? I’m currently trying to network and pivot myself into the banking industry, but like many have said, my best bet is an MBA from a t10 school.

Freight brokers can make $$$ with the right incentive structure.

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

What about remote, chill 9-5 jobs that pay 80-90k?

Im at the point where I have a good chunk saved and my side hustle is taking off.. don’t care to do the office politics and BS fire drills anymore. Just want to clock out at 5 and live my life

I’m a Process Analyst at a F500 energy company that utilizes a hybrid schedule. That being said, I have to deal with constant disorganization, toxic environment, all hands on deck situations, and multiple responsibilities that require years of exp. and certifications for inadequate pay and this is only my 7th month. Unfortunately, I feel stuck, constantly feeling dissatisfied with the work, and not sure how to proceed or what roles to target.

this is hard af just as a warning I failed every time I tried to start my own business, and am currently 8-9 months into the 'business' that I am working on right now and it's very very difficult to make money by yourself unless you already have a high value skill and want to be a freelancer.

Unfortunately, I’m avoid coding as I hated that during school and found no interest in it. Although my major allows me to pursue certain dev. roles to some extent, I’d prefer to try something else.

Honestly, I’m 26 years old and truly feel at a dead end. Some roles I want to try, I can’t due to lack of a applicable degree and/or exp., but then again, not sure if I’d like it…

Check out some type of sales. Tech may not look too hot right now but it can be a great job once you're out of the BDR/SDR stage, software sales has amazing work life balance. Assuming that you're in the US med device sales or pharma sales can also be lucrative but the hours can be significantly worse than SaaS due to the on-call nature of health as well as the lack of WFH (the hours will still be better than banking).

I'm <2 years post-MBA and just cleared ~170k all-in at a F500 doing corporate finance. I can count on one hand the amount of weeks that I've had to work more than 40 hours. I will never out-earn a career banker or consultant, but as I get older, I find myself increasingly valuing my personal time outside of work. Ultimately, I make enough to live comfortably and save 15-20% of my gross income, and I have a somewhat clear trajectory to Director within a decade (either at my current company or elsewhere; FP&A is a pretty transferable skillset across industries) where I should be able to clear 250-300k annually.

I actually looked into FP&A, but like I mentioned above, my degree and experience seem to be the blockers. I’m not sure whether going back for another bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is worth the time and money, but MBA seems to be the next logical step.

As you mentioned, personal time outside the workplace is a valuable asset. Do you have any guidance for me in order to pivot into these corporate finance roles?
