What are we doing

Sometimes I wish I was in the foreign service or CIA, some real James Bond stuff. Suits, international travel, women on my Como wooden boat. Then I remember that’s not real and I’d get paid $60,000. Pretty lame.

But is what we do cool? Volume plug and play pitch models? Cookie cutter sell-side processes? Get an engagement walk a buyer 8 months to finish on some sub $500m deal? Is that cool? Am I wasting my time?

Sometimes I wish I was pursuing the public markets which are my real passion. Hard to make the switch a couple years in to S&T, huge pay cuts and no clear path to the buyside anyways.

Where are all the investment bankers that didn’t go to PE? Where are all the associates that fell out of PE after they were associates?

“They’re in corp dev”

Yeah I don’t see it. There has to be more. There’s has to be greater honey holes to dip into
