What food do you order ?

Hello fellow monkeys,

I'll be interning at an EB in France in a few months and I was very curious about what you usually ordered for diner.

I have some digestive issues and would like to have some "healthy" ideas, especially since I felt absolutely bloated during my last internship due to eating like a starving pig every night.

Frichti seems great, thx for the advice ! Luckily I'm not at Rothschild but in an American EB. I guess they have diner stipends even for interns but I'm not sure.
I thought only Rothschild and BNP had this weird 21h fake-cap where interns had no diner / taxi.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some healthy dinner ideas that align with maintaining good digestion and avoiding bloating:

  1. Chicken Salads with a Side Treat: A chicken salad is a great option for staying fresh and energized during late-night work. Pair it with a small treat like a cookie or brownie for a morale boost. This balance keeps your body fueled and your mind happy.

  2. Meal-Prepped Dinners: If you have the opportunity, meal prep in advance. Focus on lean proteins (like chicken or fish), plenty of vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid heavy, greasy, or overly processed foods.

  3. Intermittent Fasting-Friendly Meals: If you're following an intermittent fasting schedule, consider eating within an 8-hour window. Opt for meals rich in protein and good fats, while avoiding simple carbs and starchy foods that can cause bloating.

  4. Seamless Orders: When ordering takeout, avoid the temptation of heavy comfort foods. Instead, go for lighter options like salads, grilled proteins, or sushi. These are easier on digestion and help you avoid feeling bloated.

  5. Plant-Based Options: If you're plant-based or want to try lighter meals, consider steamed vegetables, salads, or grain bowls. Adding a light dressing or sauce can enhance flavor without adding heaviness.

  6. Hydration and Snacks: Stay hydrated throughout the day and keep healthy snacks like fruits (berries, apples, oranges) or nuts on hand to avoid overeating during dinner.

By focusing on these options, you can maintain a healthy diet and avoid the discomfort of bloating during your internship.

I order French Fries stuffed in Fresh French Bread with a nice French Wine on the side (usually from the Champagne region).

Srsly though - I love greek salads and greek lamb gyros. A good bacon cheeseburger. Chinese food if they only lightly fry. Pizza, sushi, wings. Wings are a bit messy if you're typing though so maybe a dry rub like Lemon Pepper.

High quality Meditteranean/Middle Eastern gyros + platters are my go to. Never had digestive issues ordering those dishes from my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Very fresh ingredients, taste incredible.

But YMMV. For example, I live in the NYC area and other similar restaurants / halal trucks tend to have lower quality ingredients and despite tasting great, I've had a few platters that really messed with my stomach afterwards. That being said, I've been to a few Middle Eastern restaurants in Europe and they were phenomenal (better than anything I've had in the States if I'm being honest) and I had no digestive issues.

yeah there is a good Mediterranean place by me 24 delivery and it is awesome
