Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Springbank, Caol Ila, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Talisker, Oban, Bowmore, Glenfiddich, and many, many more...
So many good choices there. My personal out of that list is Bowmore Islay. Second would be Caol Ila, then Oban for third.
For US whiskey: Maker's Mark, TX Whiskey, Pappy's. Don't mess with any others so that's my list.
End of the story though: stay away from anything in a plastic bottle. You're better than that.
I went to a whiskey tasting dinner last year and loved it. Made me a Glenfiddich fan and I have some of their collectibles and some of their older ones to drink. Also never hurts to have some Templeton Rye or Gentleman Jack around.
Talisker guy here. Love lagavulin as well. Certainly partial to peaty malts; however, I’m not a pest bomb guy.
Talisker is nice, Briney and slightly smokey. It’s not an islay.
