Why are senior bankers so tall?
I've noticed that directors and managing directors tend to be taller than average people
When bankers get promoted, do they grow an extra inch or two? Is the added height included in senior bonus packages? Do PE guys get the same benefits, or do all the short bankers go there?

People say height is all genetic, but this is not true. Of course, you need the right genes to be tall, but proper development requires low stress and good nutrition during your more rapid growth and development stages early in life. The more complete parenting and higher household income of educated adults who planned a family, probably points to developing kids who will be both tall and successful or earn more. In other words, I think there's a coincidental correlation. One doesn't need to be tall to be successful, but if a person is tall in their youth, you can probably predict the person will be successful.
until you go to the ghetto and realize every younger guy living on food stamps is 6'0''+
yes, nutrition is a (small) part of height. but let's not kid ourselves, it's (nearly all) genetic.
I'm 6'1''. I ate the same diet growing up as my brother. He's 5'8''. Same parents.
Who's more successful, you or your brother?
Well if his genes say that he's 7'0"...

Tell this to the mediocre athletes coming from wealthy white families getting crushed in college sports by the kid from Brownsville who hasn't eaten an actual steak until he was 20...
Genetics
Bo Jackson, Mike Tyson, Hershel Walker, Evander Holyfield, Usain Bolt, Michael Jordan...all came from underprivileged backgrounds...
Michael Jordan’s dad was a plant manager for GE and his mom worked at a bank. He’s not really from a poor family.
You'd be surprised how loving poor families are. Moms in those poor minority households sacrifice a ton and have a tremendous amount of care and love they give their kids.
I think only 15% of North Americans are 6'0+, yet over 60% of Fortune 500 CEOs are over 6'0'. Think of the past 4 US presidents: Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton. Three of them were 6'1+. The Canadian PM is 6'2. Height is perceived as a manly trait and helps boost charisma, overall attractiveness and room presence. It's therefore not a coincidence that you seem to notice many in senior management are tall. I doubt Obama would be as popular as he is if he was the height and frame of say Al Sharpton. I also remember Trump absolutely towering over Marco Rubio in the presidential primaries. Beyond his verbal attacks, his simple height advantage exuded dominance. Before I get MS, this doesnt mean that shorter men can't rise to the top (yes pun) -- it simply means that taller men have an advantage, et ceteris paribus.
I like how you included "ceteris paribus."

"on average CEOs were just a shade under six feet. Given that the average American male is 5'9" that means that CEOs, as a group, have about three inches on the rest of their sex. But this statistic actually understates matters. In the U.S. population, about 14.5% of all men are six feet or over. Among CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, that number is 58%. Even more strikingly, in the general American population, 3.9% of adult men are 6'2" or taller. Among my CEO sample, 30% were 6'2" or taller,"
Laws of nature, the CEO is more than anything the face of the company, and they need to look according. Why are most people on TV taller or better looking than average.
Perhaps its because Anglo Saxon who are decendants of the Mayflower and George Washington people are historically wealthy, and are in positions of power already. Pure blooded Anglo Saxons make up a small portion of the US population. Genetically, they're the tallest race in the world, so perhaps thats why.
The number 1 qualification requirement for MD's is they must be an absolute unit. That is basically it. Show me an MD who is not a unit.
in awe at the size of these lads
Most leaders are taller. Usually 5'10" or above. It has a bit to do with command presence.
Didn't realize this until now but all the c levels I've invested in or hired have been 6 or taller. I'm only 5'11 though.
Larger people have bigger dicks, which allows them to more totally fuck people with. Easy answers here, man. Think.
The head of IBD at my bank is like 5'7. My group head is well below six feet, as are most of the male junior bankers on my team. Just anecdotal evidence that perceptions aren't always reality, although many in IBD may very well be of above average height. Would be interested to see a statistical analysis on height across the st., and at different seniority levels, to get a holistic view.
Jim Cramer is 5'6" and is an absolute unit
Trading takes skills. Never been a banker but everyone says a monkey could do it. Also tech CEOs are on average short. Careers that require more talent might be better for short people.
Tech CEOs are Jewish or some other form of 3rd World. They are all probably tall for their race.
I'm choking
6' when i'm standing on my wallet

HR was a mistake

Are there any deal sleds that add an inch or two? Trying to compensate here.
