This is why I just get their Snapchat first and exchange a few pics. Obviously don't snap/text too much in general but it helps to get an idea. This happened to me once and I just straight up ghosted.

As a finance guy, I ran the stats one time on this with my own experiences. I found that something like 50% look about the same as their pics, 25% look materially better than their photos, and 25% look materially worse than their photos.

Weirdly enough, the best looking girls I've dated off dating apps have far undersold their attractiveness in their photos. This one girl was an absolute, otherwordly smokeshow who looked so average in her photos that I was tempted to blow her off on date 1, but I showed up and was just...taken aback. She and I dated off and on for 6 months.

I remember my first time getting catfished. I was back home freshman summer from college, and I just started swiping on tinder. I matched with a chick and agreed to link up the following night. She looked like a hard 7, and was dtf, so that was good enough for me. I was none the wiser about the elusive face-only-photos and top down angles yet.
