Will we ever get to a point where its fine to have multiple wives/spouses

Was thinking the other day how the world evolves, and I guess particularly in America. Might sound weird to say someone will have  multiple wives, but 100 years ago it would have been weird to say someone has a kid out of wedlock and is proud of it.

Also thinking, if someone has a high net worth, they could almost have/support multiple families.

I could see it more as, some celebrity tries to gain clout by having two public girlfriends/boyfriends, that leads to other people following because thats how it normally goes.

Would enjoy hearing others thoughts.

In our current misandrist society? No.

Much better chance of the inverse happening. It becomes normalized for 'open marriages' aka woman has a 'safe' husband for comfort while dating other guys for fun

Currently women dont need men for providing anymore. So what do they need us for?

- sexual excitement - tall, dark, handsome

- child rearing - a stable man for a woman when she's around 25-32 years of age

- companionship - someone to do things with

- status - a guy she can brag to her friends about. More boxes above he checks the better.

The above changes could manifest in a number of ways. You might see forever marriage become a thing of the past and have more 'life stage partners' i.e. someone to be young and fun with, someone to raise a kid with, someone to enjoy twilight years with.

Or you might see women, now with more economic freedom, prioritize an attractive partner who is more stereotypically 'masculine' (think car mechanic) over someone with a safe job (think engineer or accountant). This would be similar to how men have been in the past.

Or another path is just a rising popularity in open marriages. Easy to crack this nut by labeling marriage as a historically sexist institution (what isn't these days) and convince women they are victims (always an easy task) in this relationship, while also selling men a false bill of goods (you can go out and get laid too!). Of course we know the type of guys who would agree to such terms will end up in a losing proposition.

But hey, if you ever dont like your place in life at least it's never been easier to switch genders and play for the other team

Women enjoy not working and having someone take care of them too much to ever be in a position to solely provide for a family.

You can clearly see this in their behaviour, their career paths, and the type of guys they're attracted to. Also, it's biological.

There's a whole religion for that, not particularly well thought out though

Trust me if the social norms ever get that this becomes a thing amongst the woke strong enough to get it permitted, there will be no change to divorce liability laws to go along with it so a guy could owe alimony to all three wives and be bankrupted. And in fact the risk will be higher because they will recognize common law polygamous marriages.

Given the rights that the LGBTQ crowd has been granted over the past decade or so, I see no defensable argument for keeping polygamy illegal.

Personally, I'm not interested and don't think many women in the modern world are, but it definitely should not be illegal.

I don't understand why you would want multiple WIVES and FAMILIES.

I can understand multiple sexual partners and such by why do you need to go through the whole process of having multiple wives that demand attention and you need to build a life with them. Whats the point in that?

I'm the OP, I'm not saying that its full family time with each wife.

What I'm saying is, there's more women out there who compete for a limited number of guys. For example (not saying this is true), pick your favorite CEO. Take Jamie Dimon, probably has enough money to have multiple families, and probably than enough women who would be willing to be with him in a group as long as they are financially taken care of.
