How to break into global macro/geopolitical analyst type jobs

Hi all,

I’m interested in a finance career that combines finance with geopolitics. I’ve learned about specialized areas like global macro analysis and geopolitical analysis, as well as more established sectors like FX, commodities, and credit.

How should I best position myself to break into macro-focused finance? What does the recruiting process look like for roles involving macro and geopolitical analysis, and which banks offer specialized teams in these areas? What would be a strong path to enter these industries?

I’d imagine commodities is a very solid place to be if you’re interested in macro & geopolitics. Unfortunately very hard to get a trading seat on the physical side without spending a few years in BO. There’e also ofcourse macro hedge funds but I have no clue how to land one of these seats so will let someone else chime in.
