2023-24 PE London Thread

Thought would start a thread so we can discuss 1) interview prep, 2) firms coming to market / hiring, 3) current process status update.

Know that a few firms have kicked off already including Bain and Providence. Advent due to kick off end of month. Any other?

Following. Kea also doing AKKR.

Does anybody know who else Kea are working with? And is Bain really recruiting again?

When are the planned starting dates (ballpark) for the ongoing recruitment? Will this be for summer/fall 2024? Anyone with any insight?

Definitely looking relatively bleak across the market atm.

For the funds that are hiring, focuses seem to be centred around sector-specific expertise (Life Sciences, Climate Tech) and/or languages (Nordics, German, French).

I personally don’t reach out to HHs but for KEA, they reached out to me and also did an interview that lasted over an hour. Haven’t had that experience with other HHs, including top ones like Edgeworth and Walker Hamill. Maybe KEA is more selective / have mandates with very specific criteria? Also seems that others in my class haven’t had inbounds from them either.

Prospect intruding here, apologies. I'm confused - how are PE firms requiring >=1yr PE experience for Associate roles? Is this basically a filter for PE->PE lateral hires? Or people with off-cycle experience? I don't see how anyone who isn't continental European with gap years and/or Masters degrees could achieve 1yr of PE experience before joining IB.

In case you haven't figured this out already, multilingual Europeans with >18 months of OC internships have a huge advantage in PE recruiting in LDN.

Sorry unrelated, but does anyone know if Apax are recruiting for buyout ?

Funny how we all have different answers. Would be smarter to list your source
Infos I got from HH: Advent to start Q1'24. WP just ended. PAI ongoing and SL (Analyst) done as well

What’s your source for Advent plz? I am female, 2nd year analyst at BB, target school and didn’t get a call… why does it have to be so difficult lol
