3rd Yr Medical Student Upcoming Year Off Healthcare Shop Opportunities

As title states, have an upcoming year “off” for school I am planning to use to focus on field-specific research (very common in more competitive fields of medicine for context). I imagine that this will not take up ALL of my time and many med students treat these “research years” as chill years to get back to normal life. I’m extremely interested in pursuing finance and healthcare / life sciences investing / working with buy side firms as a physician / post med school and have some healthcare-economics papers published as well as having done a lot of independent reading about the field (read: all of my friends and long-term gf are in private equity mega funds in nyc). What opportunities can I look for / hope for to gain some experience in these fields this upcoming year as an intern maybe or part time / shadowing etc. Should I cold email / LinkedIn people with MD degrees at firms? I know some MBB like McKinsey have advanced degree analyst/associate positions. If it’s relevant, Ivy undergrad, T5 med school. Thanks so much for the advice in advance!
