AlphaWave Global - Previously Falcon Edge

Hey guys, just saw that AlphaWave hired Pol from GS. Their portfolio seems very tech-centered. They are ex-tiger cub from what I saw in TechCrunch. Any ideas on trackrecord, how underwater is their portfolio, and team culture/how sharp these guys are? What do they do? Growth? Are they more PE or HF

Thanks!

I think there was a post or so on WSO about them. Worth checking out.

One of the founders is a bestie of Kushner. Quite interesting if you google their relationship.

Nevertheless, interviewed with them and met some of their leadership. Found their COO to be literally the nicest guy on earth but the other co-founder was one of the weirdest interviews I ever had. I interviewed with mostly growth and some PE shops so maybe it's also that I'm not used to how HF guys evaluate investments (was very focused on public markets and not a single word about tech in 1h).

On their history, they were a classic L/S hedge fund. They still have that part of their business but they've started investing heavily in start-ups over the last couple of years.

Not sure how well they are doing at the moment given they invested at the height of the bubble into mostly consumer-tech/internet which was obviously brutally hit.

In process on GE/VC side and wanted to bump this. Any additional insight folks know? See there was hate on last post but seems like people are very split on it. Not sure if I want to go back to pulling 100+ hour weeks on the reg but if the comp is good enough then...

Interviewed with them. As someone above said, their COO (first round interview) was amazing, a really nice guy. Then came the dude who heads up (I think?) their HF side. What an absolute douche of a guy, rude, unnecessarily aggressive and a complete goon. Called time on the interview after 20 mins, as it was going nowhere. They are also a super shady outfit, a number of consulting firms refuse to work with them.
